TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State closed out the regular season Thursday with a loss to No. 38 Ouachita Baptist in MIAA/GAC men's tennis action.
The RiverHawks (6-10, 2-3 MIAA/GAC) were narrowly edged in doubles play, including a 7-5 setback at No. 2 that proved decisive in the point.
Alexander Edley and
Mansur Khajimuradov highlighted the doubles lineup with a 6-4 win at No. 1, defeating the nationally ranked duo of Ramon Strassmann and Yarin Aebi.
In singles, Northeastern State pushed multiple courts deep, with three matches extending to a third set. The RiverHawks were unable to capitalize after claiming first sets in each of those contests.
Edley provided the lone singles victory for Northeastern State, earning his fourth consecutive win with a 6-3, 7-5 result at No. 2.
Northeastern State will next compete in the MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Tournament, set to begin April 29 in Springfield, Missouri.
