EDMOND, Okla. -- Northeastern State clinched the regular season series over Central Oklahoma for the first time since 2021 with a 3-0 road win over the Bronchos on Tuesday.
The RiverHawks (13-21, 8-14 MIAA) put together a strong showing on the mound, holding the Bronchos (17-19, 8-14 MIAA) to just one hit through the first eight innings and three hits across the day. Seven pitchers contributed to the effort, each pitching no less than an inning and none pitching more than two.
Izac Sizemore led the staff with three strikeouts during the afternoon, while
Jackson Hill recorded two in a winning start.
Evan Schuelke also had a pair of punch-outs when pitching in the eighth inning.
Jack Haag tossed the ninth and landed his third save of the season.
Bryce Bond,
Ashton Durham and
Holden Yaksick also pitched in the win.
Offensively, NSU logged ten base hits, beginning with a leadoff homer from
Klete Finley at the start of the contest.
Carson Miller plated a run with a ground rule double into center field during the fourth, while
Jaxon Gregory capped off NSU's RBI hits with a single in the seventh. Miller led the RiverHawks with three hits in the win, while Finley and Gregory had two apiece.
The RiverHawks return home to begin a series against Pittsburg State later this week.
