RiverHawks kept off scoreboard in Thursday defeat

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State found themselves limited to five hits with no scores in a 9-0 loss to Pittsburg State on Thursday evening at Rousey Field.

The RiverHawks (13-22, 8-15 MIAA) were attacked by the Gorillas (29-8, 18-8 MIAA) in the second and third innings, which saw the visitors log eight runs against Bryce Parlin. NSU wouldn't find a complete scoring response, though the Gorillas returned to the scoreboard in the sixth inning with their lone score against NSU's bullpen.

Pittsburg State outhit Northeastern State 11-to-5 in the matchup, though they were held to just one extra-base hit. Parker Allen pitched four innings in the loss and only allowed two hits in that span, while Hudson Birch and Trout He each tossed a scoreless inning over the eighth and ninth, respectively.

Xavier Sanchez had two hits in the loss, while Stephen Osborne landed two, as well. The RiverHawks struggled to avoid the strikeout, falling down 14 times during the night in that fashion.

Game two of the series begins tomorrow at 3 p.m.
