WARRRENSBURG, Mo. -- Northeastern State couldn't keep pace with Central Missouri on Tuesday, falling 7-1 in MIAA softball action.
The RiverHawks (20-16, 7-8 MIAA) were held in check offensively despite collecting six hits. Northeastern State broke through in the sixth inning when
Mattison Hamilton delivered an RBI single to score
Mia Sarwinski, cutting the deficit to 4-1 at the time.
Hamilton led the RiverHawks at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Sarwinski,
Emily Carpenter, and
Peyton Watson each added hits.
Central Missouri (25-12, 8-5 MIAA) responded in the bottom of the sixth. Taylor Thompson blasted a three-run home run to extend the lead to 7-1, putting the game out of reach.
Northeastern State starter
Jensyn Elder (10-8) took the loss, allowing one run over two innings. Aubree Saporito worked four innings in relief, giving up six runs, five earned, on eight hits.
Central Missouri pitcher Bailey Brumley (7-3) earned the win, limiting the RiverHawks to one run over six innings while striking out five.
