TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State rolled to a dominant 7-0 victory over Fort Hays State on Thursday at the NSU Tennis Courts, continuing its perfect all-time record against the Tigers.
The RiverHawks improved to 13-0 in the series and secured their third sweep of the season with a clean performance in both doubles and singles play. Northeastern State (9-6, 2-2 MIAA) did not drop a match, taking all three doubles points before cruising through singles competition.
Daisy Barrow highlighted the day at the top of the lineup, earning a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3. The victory marked her fourth consecutive singles win and improved her record to 9-1 over her last 10 matches. It was also her first win at the No. 1 singles position.
In doubles, Barrow teamed with
Renata Morales for a 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot, setting the tone early for the RiverHawks. Northeastern State also claimed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the opening point.
The RiverHawks carried that momentum into singles, where they won all six matches in straight sets except for a tightly contested three-set victory at No. 3.
Fort Hays State dropped to 8-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Northeastern State will return to action at home on Saturday, hosting Nebraska-Kearney at 9:30 a.m.
