TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State opens its 31st season of women's soccer on Friday, traveling to Ouachita Baptist.  The match marks the beginning of the regular season for both teams, with head coach Chase Wooten entering his 17th season as head coach of the RiverHawks.

On Sunday, NSU will welcome Harding to Tahlequah for the 15th time in program history for their home opener. 

The RiverHawks were picked to finish in eighth place in the MIAA and return four of their top six scorers from 2025. Hannah Anderson is NSU's leading scoring threat, returning with six goals and three assists. 

In season openers, Northeastern State has seen just one setback in its previous ten matches and has not lost a home opener since 2011.

History with the Tigers
- The RiverHawks are 18-3-2 against OBU and 8-3 when facing the Tigers on the road. Northeastern State has not lost a match since 2007 to the Tigers and has not allowed more than one goal in the last 15 meetings.  Of the 23 contests with Ouachita Baptist, Northeastern State has pitched a shutout in 12 of them. 
- The Tigers are a regular non-conference opponent for the RiverHawks, as the two teams have met in every season since 2010, except the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

- OBU has received 11 top-three GAC regular season finishes, and returns one All-GAC selection and two second team ALL-GAC selections. 
- The Tigers were picked third in the GAC and claimed one first-place vote

History with the Lady Bison
- Sunday will be the 25th meeting between the two programs, with the RiverHawks winning 11 of the last 12 against Harding.  At Harding, Northeastern State is 7-3 in the all-time series.

- Harding is favored to win the Great American Conference and earned three first-place votes. 
- The Lady Bison return three All-GAC selections and welcome new head coach Audrey Adkison.
