EDMOND, Okla. -- Central Oklahoma swept Northeastern State 3-0 on Thursday, winning 25-13, 25-19 and 25-20.
The RiverHawks, who fell to 1-8, battled throughout the final two sets but could not close the gap against the Bronchos.
Northeastern State trailed 15-10 in the second set before cutting the deficit to 24-19. Central Oklahoma closed the set on the next point.
The RiverHawks also stayed within striking distance in the third set. Northeastern State trailed 21-15 before scoring three straight points to pull within 21-18. After Central Oklahoma pushed its lead back to 24-18, the RiverHawks answered with two points before the Bronchos finished the match.
Simeon Paradiso led Northeastern State with eight kills, while
Paige Miller added seven kills and
Ashlyn Tag had six.
Lanie Brown recorded four kills and three blocks.
Tiyana Bhatte finished with 10 assists, while
Sydney Dunkleberger had 11. Paradiso led the RiverHawks with 13 digs, and
Jordyn Berger added nine.
Northeastern State finished with 28 kills and hit .103 as a team. Central Oklahoma had 47 kills and hit .324.
The RiverHawks return to action Friday morning of face Southeastern Oklahoma.
