RiverHawks Drop Friday Match to Savage Storm

EDMOND, Okla. -- Northeastern State volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday morning at Hamilton Field House, falling 25-20, 25-11, 25-13.

The RiverHawks (1-9) battled in the opening set, remaining within two points at 20-18 before the Savage Storm closed the frame with five of the final seven points.

Southeastern took control early in the second set, building a 9-5 advantage before extending its lead to 15-6. The Savage Storm finished the set 25-11.

The RiverHawks pulled even at 10-10 in the third set before Southeastern used a 8-0 run to take an 18-10 lead. NSU could not close the gap as the Savage Storm completed the sweep.

Simeon Paradiso paced the RiverHawks offensively with seven kills while adding five digs. Paige Miller recorded five kills, while Ashlyn Tag added four kills. Devine Okon contributed two kills and a block.

Tiyana Bhatte and Sydney Dunkleberger each finished with nine assists, with Bhatte adding a team-high 10 digs. Jordyn Berger recorded eight digs, while Paradiso added five.

Northeastern State finished with 24 kills and hit .054 as a team. The RiverHawks totaled 37 digs and three blocks.

Northeastern State returns home Sept. 18 when the RiverHawks host Missouri Southern. The contest will mark the first volleyball match played inside the NSU Event Center.
