TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Drury broke a scoreless tie with 2:12 remaining Wednesday night, scoring late to defeat Northeastern State 1-0 at DeLoache Field.
Steen Voller scored in the 88th minute off an assist from Samuel Tagg to give the Panthers the only goal they needed.
Northeastern State (0-3) held Drury scoreless for nearly the entire match, with goalkeeper
Cameron McColloch making five saves. McColloch made four saves in the second half as the RiverHawks kept the match level into the final minutes.
Drury finished with an 11-7 advantage in shots and placed six shots on goal compared with two for the RiverHawks. Northeastern State earned five corner kicks, while Drury had six.
The RiverHawks had several opportunities to break through.
Harry Tremblez put a shot on frame in the 87th minute, but Drury goalkeeper Ben Barnett made the save.
Barnett made two saves for Drury to record the shutout. The Panthers improved to 2-1 with the victory.
Northeastern State returns to action Saturday, Sept. 5, when the RiverHawks host Oklahoma Christian at DeLoache Field.
