TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State men's soccer rallied with two goals in the final 15 minutes to earn a 3-3 draw with Southern Nazarene on Wednesday at DeLoache Field.
The RiverHawks trailed 3-1 with less than 15 minutes remaining before
Carter Adams cut the deficit in the 76th minute.
Avelino Rosa then leveled the match just 69 seconds later, scoring off an assist from
Joshua Adeyemi in the 77th minute.
Northeastern State took an early lead when
Martin Martinez scored in the 43rd minute, sending the RiverHawks into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Southern Nazarene answered in the second half, scoring three times in a span of 21 minutes. Tiago Moreira converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute, Wesley Rodriguez scored in the 72nd minute and Kaden Slaven added a goal in the 76th minute to put the Crimson Storm ahead 3-1.
Northeastern State finished with a 21-17 advantage in shots and put 12 attempts on target.
Victor Jaunay made five saves before
Cameron McColloch took over in goal for the final 13 minutes and made one save.
The RiverHawks move to 1-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in GAC/MIAA play. Southern Nazarene is now 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference action.
Northeastern State returns to action Saturday, facing Rogers State in Claremore at 7 p.m.
