WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Northeastern State climbed into eighth place after two rounds of its season-opening tournament Tuesday at Mules National Golf Club, with the RiverHawks sitting at 574 after 36 holes.

The RiverHawks were as high as third place during the opening day of The Mule before finishing the second round at 282, 10 shots better than their opening-round 292. Northeastern State is tied with Arkansas-Fort Smith, which also sits at 574.

Ian Wilcoxen led the RiverHawks individually, carding rounds of 71 and 70 for a 141 total, placing him tied for 15th. Braden Prestwood followed at 143 after rounds of 72 and 71 to sit tied for 25th.

Bliss Newton improved by seven strokes in the second round, shooting a 69 after opening with a 76. He is tied for 38th at 145.

Will Livermore shot 73 in each round and is tied for 44th at 146. David Albuja carded rounds of 76 and 72 for a 148 and is tied for 57th.

Central Oklahoma leads the 20-team field at 542, followed by Central Missouri at 557 and Missouri Southern at 561.

The tournament concludes Wednesday with the final round beginning at 9 a.m.
