Biography

Briefly:  A newcomer to the Redmen program in 2007.

 

New Mexico Junior College: 

2004:  Averitt was 8-1 with an ERA of 3.39 in 73 innings of work.  In 2004, he struck out 80 and opposing batters hit just .276.  Averitt was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 32nd round.

 

2005:  Received a medical red-shirt after suffering an arm injury.

 

2006:  Averitt returned to action and had an ERA of 4.24 in 17 innings of work.

 

Personal: Matt is a Wildlife major and hopes to become a game warden in the future.
