Northeastern State falls to 9-4-0 on the year, lose 1-0 to Central Missouri

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Central Missouri Sunday morning at Doc Wadley Stadium.
 
The RiverHawks (9-4-0, 5-4-0 MIAA) were outshot 12-6, and the Jennies improved to 10-1-1 overall and 6-0-2 in the MIAA.
 
The game was replayed following a lightning delay in the first half of the attempted contest from Saturday evening.
 
The lone goal of the match was scored in the 67th minute. UCM's Kayla Shain took a free kick from 30 yards out, and the ball deflected off the head of NSU's junior defender Jessy Phillips and into the top corner of the net.
 
Junior goalkeeper Maggie Kloza (5-3-0) played the first 80:16 in net for the home side and saved five shots. Freshman keeper Hannah Brudzinski finished the match and did not record a save.
 
Morgan Hartzler (3-0-1) earned the win for the Jennies after playing the full 90 and saving three shots.
 
The RiverHawks return to action at 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at No. 19 Central Oklahoma.
