RiverHawks to Play UCM in MIAA Semis

Northeastern State to meet top seed Central Missouri at 3 p.m. Nov. 2 in Warrensburg, Mo.

NSU will play at No. 12 Central Missouri in the MIAA Championship Semifinals at 3 p.m. Nov. 2
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team will face No. 12-ranked and top seeded Central Missouri in the semifinals of the 2012 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship at 3 p.m. Nov. 2 in Warrensburg, Mo.
 
The No. 4-seeded RiverHawks (13-4-1, 7-4-1 MIAA) opened their tournament with a 2-1 victory in Tahlequah over No. 5 Northwest Missouri State.
 
The Jennies (14-1-4, 10-0-2 MIAA) avoided an upset scare from No. 8 Southwest Baptist in the first round, tying the Bearcats 2-2 but advancing with a 3-1 result in penalty kicks.
 
NSU and UCM met earlier this season in Tahlequah, with the Jennies using an own goal to pick up the 1-0 victory. Northeastern State is 4-0-1 since that loss.
 
The winner will face either No. 2 Central Oklahoma or No. 6 Fort Hays State in the championship match at 1 p.m. Nov. 4 in Warrensburg, Mo.
 
SCOUTING THE JENNIES
No. 12-ranked Central Missouri boasts an impressive 14-1-4 record with a 10-0-2 mark in the conference this season. The Jennies are 7-0-2 in their last nine matches, and they have outscored opponents by a 33-10 margin this year. Alexis Robbers (9g-0a=18p) and Becky Lackey (6g-4a=16p) are the top goal scorers, while Kayla Shain (4g-5a=13p) leads the team in assists. Morgan Hartzler (7-0-2, 0.40 GAA, .871 S%) and Jessica Grindstaff (6-1-2, 0.62 GAA, .800 S%) have both served time in net.
