WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The No. 23-ranked Northeastern State women's basketball team earned a 66-52 victory over Oklahoma City University Saturday afternoon at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse on the final day of the SWOSU Bulldog Classic.
NSU (1-1) picked up its first win of the season by knocking off the defending NAIA National Champions. The green and white was tied 23-23 at halftime and outscored the Stars (0-2) 43-29 in the final 20 minutes.
Six RiverHawks had at least seven points, led by junior guard
Katy Harsen who scored 13. Senior guard
Sarah Green added 12.
Northeastern State was 21 of 24 from the free-throw line, and the team shot 41 percent from the field. NSU also outrebounded OCU 33-30.
Oklahoma City was led by Lauren Gober's 12 points off the bench. Autumn Huffman added 10 points and six rebounds, and the Stars shot 37 percent from the field and just 58 percent (10-17) from the free-throw line.
The RiverHawks will now face Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in Durant, Okla.
