TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- The Northeastern State women's soccer team will play on the road at 7pm Friday, September 14th against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla. at Ranger Field. The RiverHawks will return home and face of against their first MIAA opponent, Missouri Southern State at 1pm Sunday, September 16th at DeLoache Field.

The Northeastern State women's soccer team is 3-0 on the season. Since week two, NSU has played their first home game against McMurry, which ended in a rainout. The RiverHawks came back to win a road game on Sunday, September 9th at Harding 5-0. Senior forward

The women returned home to DeLoache field and faced off against East Central on Tuesday, September 11th. Both teams paid tribute to the tragedy of September 11, 2001, by honoring a family member or friend at halftime who is currently or has served in the military. The NSU ROTC Color Guard presented the flags prior to the game, a silent auction was held throughout the game, and donations were accepted on behalf of the Paws For Purple Hearts program. Sordahl Named MIAA Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week
Senior forward
Rachel Sordahl was named as MIAA Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week, announced by the MIAA earlier this week. Sordahl, a Pryor, Okla. native, has scored six goals on the season and averages two goals per game.
The RiverHawks face off against Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers, Missouri Southern State Lions
NSU will play on the road at 7pm on Friday, September 14th in Alva, Okla. at the Rangers field. The RiverHawks will then travel back to Tahlequah to play against their first MIAA opponent Missouri Southern State at 1pm Sunday, September 16th at DeLoache Field. NSU will host a scrimmage at halftime for two of the Tahlequah Recreational Soccer Club's U5-U6 teams.
Scouting the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers
Northwestern Oklahoma State is 0-5 so far for the 2012 season. The Rangers have suffered four shutout losses against Newman (0-2), Bethany College College (0-1), Texas Women's (0-6) and MIAA opponent Nebraska-Kearney (0-4). NWOSU nearly defeated Sterling College but fell 2-3 against the Warriors. The Rangers are led in scoring by senior midfielder Taylor Marsh (1) and sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn O'Toole (1). Sophomore midfielder Denise Rangel leads in assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Thorpe has tallied 21 saves for NWOSU and has played at total of 306:38 minutes for the season.
Scouting the Missouri Southern State Lions
MSSU is 0-3-1 on the season. The Lions drew with Missouri-St. Louis in their season opener 2-2. MSSU faced losses against Quincy (1-4), Southern Nazarene (0-2) and Abilene Christian (0-2). The Lions top scorers are senior forward Megan Stueve (2) and freshman defender Michaela Altvater (1). Junior defender Dana Wilhelm and junior midfielder Tiffany Laughlin leads the team in assists.
