Box Score TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- The Northeastern State women's soccer team defeated Missouri Southern State 4-2 in the RiverHawks first MIAA contest in school history at Doc Wadley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
NSU improves to 5-0 on the season, while MSSU falls 0-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.
The Lions took an early lead against the RiverHawks, with a goal from junior defender Dana Wilhelm in the ninth minute. Senior midfielder Alicia Vonderheld was credited with the assist.

Rachel Sordahl struck against the Lions on a ball from junior forward
Emily Voges. Sordahl punched the ball for a one touch flick over the MSSU goalkeeper Abby Risner for a RiverHawks goal to tie MSSU 1-1 in the 12th minute. Sordahl recorded her eighth goal of the season through NSU's first five games.
Junior forward Jenn Clark scored the second goal for NSU in the 32nd minute to put Northeastern ahead 2-1. The Lions wasted no time in equalizing in the 41st minute, when freshman forward Karley Thomas kicked one in over NSU goalkeeper

The second half started without a hitch. Clark scored her second goal of the game on an assist from sophomore midfielder
Elizabeth Cudjoe in the 50th minute to give NSU the 3-2 advantage. Cudjoe beat her defender on the left side of the box and crossed the ball through the goal mouth. The pass went underneath the goalkeeper, and Clark tapped in what would prove to be the game-winning strike.

Lindsey Latta followed Clark's lead with an insurance goal in the 51st minute to secure the RiverHawks first-ever win in the MIAA.

Hannah Brudzinski was tabbed with the win, making her record 3-0 on the season. Brudzinski allowed two goals and made five saves against the Lions. MSSU's two goals were the first two allowed by an NSU opponent this season.
The RiverHawks have punched in 18 goals of their own through the first five contests.
Northeastern State's next match is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, September 21 against MIAA opponent Lindenwood at DeLoache Field in Tahlequah, Okla.
