Softball Sweeps Bacone College in Muskogee

Campos, Hilderbrandt both hit two home runs

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Northeastern State softball team took two road games from Bacone College Tuesday afternoon.
 
The RiverHawks (21-19) came from behind to win the series opener 9-4 in eight innings, and they picked up an 11-2 run-rule victory in the night cap over the Lady Warriors (17-20).

Bacone College plated single runs in the first and third innings, and it took runs in the fifth and sixth innings from the visitors to send the contest into extra innings.
 
Northeastern State plated seven runs in the eighth frame to secure the come-from-behind victory after the Lady Warriors could only respond with two.
 
Junior Navada Campos was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, two runs scored and a solo home run in the fifth. Senior Kelsi Hilderbrandt and junior Amanda Harjo were both 3-for-5. Harjo drove home two and scored twice.
 
Freshman Kayce Wooldridge (7-10) threw a complete game to earn the victory. She allowed four runs on eight hits.
 
Tarah Moutray and Kelli Costello led BC with two hits each. Moutray recorded three RBI and Costello scored three runs. Lucy Walter took the loss after allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 7.0 innings. Taylor Paulson recorded the final three outs, allowing two runs on three hits.

The offense carried over to the second game for the RiverHawks, as the visitors plated runs in all six innings en route to the run-rule triumph.
 
Campos, Harjo, and junior Megan Robison all hit home runs. Hilderbrandt sent two over the wall and finished with three runs batted in. Harjo and Robison both scored twice and drove home two.
 
Sophomore Shelby Enloe (6-1) threw the first five innings and earned the win in the circle. She allowed two runs on six hits. Junior Kylee Cole received an inning of work and gave up one hit and no runs, while striking out two.
 
NSU outhit Bacone College 13-7. Keri Schmidt was the lone member of the home side with multiple hits, and she finished with two. Paulson was tagged with the loss after allowing 10 runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings. Amanda Paul recorded the final two outs and gave up a solo home run to Hilderbrandt.
 
Northeastern State is now scheduled for a neutral-site doubleheader against Nebraska Kearney. The RiverHawks and Lopers will meet at noon April 18 in Bolivar, Mo.
