TAHLEQUAH, OKLA.- The Northeastern State softball team swept a doubleheader against Northwest Missouri State Saturday afternoon at RiverHawks Park.
NSU (26-20, 16-8 MIAA) won both games over NWMSU (25-15, 13-11 MIAA) by identical 3-1 scores.
NSU 3, NWMSU 1 (Box Score)
Both teams remained scoreless through three innings until Northwest Missouri State plated one run in the top of the fourth frame to lead Northeastern State 1-0. The score would remain 1-0 until the sixth inning.
The RiverHawks tied the Bearcats 1-1 in the bottom half of the sixth frame on a leadoff homerun from senior
Kelsi Hilderbrandt. Junior
Navada Campos blasted a solo home rn to left field two batters later to give the home side the lead for good.
NSU scored the final run of the game on a bases loaded play after freshman
Saharra Henson was hit by the pitcher, senior
Cayce Coleman advanced home. Coleman reached base on a single. NSU led NWMSU 3-1 after six frames.
The RiverHawks defense held the Bearcats at the top of the seventh inning and defeated the Bearcats 3-1.
Campos led the RiverHawks with one hit and one RBI. She also hit her 11th homerun of the season, while Hilderbrandt hit her fourth.
Coleman (8-6) notched the win in the circle after throwing a complete game. She allowed eight hits and one earned run.

Northeastern State took an early lead of 3-0 in the bottom of the second frame and held on for the 3-1 triumph.
Coleman scored after junior
Madison Reed was walked on a bases loaded play. Coleman reached base on a single to left field. The RiverHawks scored their next two runs on a double from junior
Amanda Harjo to plate Henson and senior Lindesa Ross. Henson reached base on a walk while Ross singled to left field.
The score would remain 3-0 until the Bearcats' Kristine Labertew hit a leadoff homerun in the top of the fifth frame, however NWMSU was no match for the NSU defense and fell to the RiverHawks after seven innings.
Harjo led NSU with two RBI, while Ross went 3-for-3 at bat.
Freshman
Kayce Wooldridge (10-10) notched the win in the circle after throwing a complete seven-inning game. She allowed only three hits and one earned run.
The RiverHawks will host their last home doubleheader of the season against Missouri Western State for Senior Day at noon April 28 at RiverHawks Park.
