Northeastern State Coach Randy Gipson
Opening Statement…
"I'm proud of our team's effort in the first game back from break. It's been a long time since we've played; 19 days. It's hard to get game conditioning back until you play a game. We had to fight through some conditioning barriers and figure out how to play without our leading scorer. I thought the defensive effort was solid throughout. Offensively, we did just enough to stay ahead. We hit free throws coming down the stretch. Che'Ron Lewis had some big finishes down the stretch to keep the lead intact for us. I thought it was a good, solid defensive game for us. We had some stretches where we gave up some offensive boards, but we really played well on the defensive boards when we took control in the second half. It's a good win. Any win for us is a good win. Our kids pulled together, especially with a lot of freshmen playing a lot of minutes. They're starting to understand the intensity level needed to play in the league."
