TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The Northeastern State softball team opened the home portion of its schedule with shutout victories over Bacone and William Jewell Saturday at RiverHawks Park.
NSU (4-6) defeated Bacone 2-0 (1-7) and then run-ruled William Jewell (3-5) 8-0 in five innings.

Northeastern State and Bacone traded three scoreless innings until the home half of the fourth frame when NSU scored two runs to lead Bacone 2-0.
Senior
Allyson Pogue reached base on a fielder's choice and advanced through to score on a single to left field from senior
Navada Campos. Freshman
Randye Sharp entered to pinch run for Campos and scored on a single to left field from freshman
Lauren Flanary.
The RiverHawks would maintain their lead throughout the rest of the scoreless frames.
Sophomore
Alex Files (1-1) threw a one-hit shutout for the first home game of the season and also recorded her first career shutout. She also struck out a career-high eight batters.
Northeastern State outhit Bacone 7-1, with Flanary going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Northeastern State opened the final game of the opening day of the two with a two-run first frame.
Flanary reached base on a walk to lead-off NSU and then scored on an error on a hit from sophomore
Saharra Henson. Henson would then score on a ground ball from freshman
Madison Boyd to push NSU's lead over William Jewell to 2-0.
The Cardinals gave up a big third inning to the RiverHawks who scored six runs to improve the score to 8-0.
Junior
Alyssa Aguilar kicked off the frame with a grand slam down the left field line to plate Boyd, Henson and senior
Madison Reed. Henson reached base on an error and Boyd walked.
Pogue and senior
Megan Robison would later score in the inning before William Jewell could record the final out.
The Cardinals loaded the bases in the top of the fifth, but NSU got out of the jam unscathed and clinched the 8-0 win in five frames.
Sophomore
Kayce Wooldridge (2-2) threw the two-hit shutout and recorded her fifth career shutout.
Henson tabbed two runs while Aguilar recorded four RBI on her second career home run.
The RiverHawks will match up again tomorrow at 11 a.m. with William Jewell followed by Bacone at 3 p.m. at RiverHawks Park. The Cardinals and Warriors will lock up at 1 p.m.
