NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH CLAY DAVIS
Statement…
"It was good to open at home and get that under our belts. Our kids love to play in front of the student body and it energizes us. We came out and played well and aggressive in the box and at the plate. We still have things to work on, but overall when you score 24 runs in four games and average six runs per game you have a good chance of winning. Our pitching staff did extremely well. We had three shutouts out of the four games and only gave up one earned run on the entire weekend. We did all that with four different pitchers.
Alex Files had a tremendous day and threw a one hitter. (Kylee) Cole and (Laura) Fleck did what we asked of them and got through the lineup. (Kayce) Wooldridge is our workhorse. She threw a two-hit shutout over William Jewell yesterday, came in today in two tough situations and picked up two saves."
