TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State softball team defeated Rogers State twice in extra innings Tuesday afternoon at RiverHawks Park.
The RiverHawks (15-7) scored twice in the eighth inning of the first game to defeat the Hillcats (4-15) 7-6, and NSU followed that up with a three-run eighth to take the second game 4-3.

Northeastern State plated two runs in the bottom of the first frame to lead Rogers State 2-0. Freshman
Lauren Flanary scored on a throwing error made by the short stop. Flanary reached base on a leadoff single to left field. Senior
Madison Reed stole home after reaching base on an infield single.
The RiverHawks held the Hillcats scoreless for three frames and scored one run in the bottom of the third inning to improve the lead 3-0. Freshman
Krysti Cearley scored on a single shot from junior
Alyssa Aguilar. Cearley reached base after being hit by a pitch.
RSU's offense struck in the top of the fourth inning scoring three runs to tie NSU 3-3. Northeastern State took back the lead in the bottom of the fourth frame scoring senior
Megan Robison.
Robison reached home on a single up the middle from Cearley to pull past RSU 4-3.
The Hillcats challenged the RiverHawks' lead by plating two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take over the lead 5-4.
NSU traded runs with RSU and plated one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie up the score 5-5 and send the game into an extra inning.
The Hillcats knotched a lone run in the top of the eighth frame, which would improve their score to 6-5 over NSU. The RiverHawks did not back down and regained the lead by adding two runs to end the game and defeat Rogers State 7-6. NSU was able to load the bases and tie the game at 6-6, and freshman
Madison Boyd drew a walkoff walk to plate the game-winning run in freshman
Jaicey Robertson.
Sophomore
Kayce Wooldridge (7-3) tabbed the win in the circle after throwing the final 3.2 innings. She allowed three hits and three runs. Sophomore
Alex Files threw for the first 4.1 frames and allowed eight hits and three runs.
Flanary and Reed led in hits at two each while freshman
Madison Boyd had two RBI. RSU outhit NSU 11-8, and both teams committed three errors.

The Hillcats scored in the top of the third frame to lead NSU 1-0. The RiverHawks tied RSU 1-1 in the bottom of the third frame. Freshman
Ryan Martin scored on a single from Reed through the right side. Martin reached base on a throwing error by the shortstop.
Neither team scored the rest of the way, so another extra inning was needed to decide proceedings. Rogers State jump on top first with a two-run eighth, and the visitors went on top 3-1.
Northeastern State wrapped the game up in the bottom of the eighth scoring Flanary, Reed and Boyd to improve the RiverHawks score and defeat RSU 4-3. Reed led off the frame with a single, and sophomore
Saharra Henson hit a sacrifice fly to plate Flanary. Boyd hit an RBI single to tie the score, and she scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Junior
Laura Fleck (2-1) tabbed the win in the circle after throwing a complete game against her former team. She allowed eight hits and three runs in the eight-inning contest. Fleck spent two years at Rogers State and transferred to Northeastern State this past summer.
Reed and Henson each had two hits for NSU, and the Hillcats outhit the RiverHawks 8-7.
Northeastern State will host Pittsburg State on March 14 for a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. at RiverHawks Park.
