BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Northeastern State softball team swept a doubleheader over Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon at the SBU Softball Field.
The RiverHawks (24-12, 10-4 MIAA) won game one 6-2 over the Bearcats (9-20, 2-11 MIAA) and won the second game 7-5 in eight innings.
NSU 6, SBU 2 (box score)
Northeastern State plated junior 
Alyssa Aguilar in the top of the second inning to put NSU up 1-0. Aguilar scored after senior 
Megan Robison reached base on an error by the first baseman.
NSU tacked on one run in the top of the third frame to improve the score 2-0 over the Bearcats. Senior 
Madison Reed reached home on a fielder's choice.
The RiverHawks held the Bearcats scoreless for five frames. Sophomore 
Saharra Henson blasted a homer to right center to score freshman 
Lauren Flanary and push the NSU lead to 4-0.
SBU belted a homerun in the bottom of the sixth to score two runs however the feat was not enough to gain a lead over NSU.
Northeastern State plated two more runs to capture the win 6-2 over Southwest Baptist.
Flanary and Aguilar each contributed two hits to lead NSU while Henson added one hit and three RBI.
Sophomore 
Kayce Wooldridge (12-5) tabbed the win in the circle after throwing a complete game. She allowed three hits and two runs.
NSU 7, SBU 5 (box score)
Southwest Baptist opened game two by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first frame to lead Northeastern State 2-0.
The RiverHawks caught a big inning in the top of the second frame scoring five runs to take the lead away from the Bearcats 5-2.  Aguilar doubled to right center followed by senior 
Allyson Pogue who scored Aguilar after reaching third base on an error by the left fielder. Robison scored Pogue on a double to center field. Freshman 
Ryan Martin blasted a homerun to left field to score senior 
Navada Campos and Robison. 
SBU scored one run in the bottom of the second and then two more in the bottom of the third frame to tie the game up for four innings.
The RiverHawks sparked in the top of the eighth frame, Robison belted a homerun to center field to score Pogue and win the game 7-5 in extra innings. Pogue reached base on a single to center field.
Pogue led NSU with three hits while Aguilar and Robison each added two. Robison and Martin each added three RBI.
Senior 
Shelbie Wagnon (2-3) notched the win in the circle after throwing 2.2 cleanup frames. She allowed only one hit. Sophomore 
Alex Files started the game and threw for four innings. She allowed nine hits and five runs. Junior 
Laura Fleck came in for 1.1 frames to relieve Files. She allowed three hits.
Northeastern State will face off against Central Missouri at noon on Sunday at the Jennies Softball Field in Warrensburg, Mo.
