Box Score 2 EMPORIA, Kan. - The Northeastern State softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 5 Emporia State Saturday afternoon at Trusler Sports Complex.
The Hornets (36-9, 16-2 MIAA) run-ruled the RiverHawks (25-23, 11-11 MIAA) 8-0 in game one and took game two 5-1.
ESU 8, NSU 0 (

Emporia State scored in the home half of the first frame plating two runs on a double from Stephanie Goodwin to lead NSU 2-0.
Solid hitting from the Hornets in the bottom of the third frame led to an additional five runs to improve the lead to 7-0 over the RiverHawks.
ESU put the game to bed in the fifth frame by tacking on one more run to defeat NSU 8-0.
Junior
Alyssa Aguilar had the only hit for the RiverHawks in game one.
Senior
Kylee Cole (3-4) suffered the loss in the circle after throwing two frames. She allowed seven hits and seven earned runs. Junior
Laura Fleck finished the contest throwing two frames. She allowed two hits and one earned run.
ESU 5, NSU 1 (

The Hornets plated one run in the bottom of the first frame to lead the RiverHawks 1-0. Tricia Vogel singled up the middle to score Goodwin.
Northeastern State tied up the game in the top of the fourth. Senior
Madison Reed doubled down the left field line to advance freshman
Madison Boyd. Boyd on her horse to score for NSU was thrown out at home, but Reed's swiftness allowed her to sneak in and even the score 1-1.
ESU tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fifth frame to pull ahead of NSU 4-1.
The Hornets plated one additional run in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the RiverHawks 5-1 in seven innings.
Senior
Navada Campos led NSU with two hits followed by senior
Megan Robison with one hit and one RBI. Reed, Aguilar and Boyd each recorded one hit each.
Sophomore
Kayce Wooldridge (13-9) took the loss in the circle after throwing six frames. She allowed 11 hits and five runs. She also recorded two strike outs.
NSU will host Arkansas Tech on April 22 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day at RiverHawks Park.
