NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH ROB CZLONKA
Opening Statement…
"It's always tough to go into a game where you don't know the team all that well. We've played William Jewell in the past and they're returning a lot of players, but they're getting more seasoned. Last year they played a lot of freshmen, this year it's a lot of sophomores. You think you understand what they're going to bring at you and I thought they gave us a good problem to solve defensively. They worked very hard, and they countered very well. We're very fortunate that our guys stuck to the game plan. They worked very hard and scored some goals. We had a good day offensively. I think, defensively, we could be a bit sharper, but at halftime we talked about that for the second half. We just put it on our guys and said 'look, being part of team defense is winning your individual battle, and you've got to be able to do that.' I thought defensively we were much more aggressive and secure in preventing attacks in the second half."

On the diversity of goal scorers and offensive depth…
"One of the things we want to be is an attack-minded team. Even though we talk a lot about defensive structure, our defense should just springboard us right into the attack. That happened in the first minute of the game. We won the ball back, Adam and Jordan [Schmoker] combined and Adam got his first goal of the season. That was exactly what we've been doing in training. We were really excited to have gotten that lead early. Jordan is scoring goals like crazy and we're excited that he's finding the back of the net. We put him on at the end to try to get him the hat-trick, but we couldn't quite get him the ball.  Brendan [Bombardier] has been scoring some goals in practice, and he was doing that in the spring last year. As he comes out of the back he's a dangerous threat, and he can put the ball in the back of the net. Chris Mendez has been snake bitten in games as of late. In practice he finds the goal quite a bit, so for him to get that first one off his back was great. It's great to see that with the fact that [Juan] Peralta was on the bench today because of injury. I thought Ricardo [Palomino] and Justin Todd created a lot of chances even though they didn't score. I think going forward we've got a lot of depth and a lot of players that can provide opportunities for us."
