Live StatsTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State softball team is set to play a midweek doubleheader against Washburn. The RiverHawks (12-12, 4-4 MIAA) will host the Ichabods (11-8, 3-3 MIAA) in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. March 17 at RiverHawks Park.
Northeastern State is coming off a weekend where it went 4-0 and tied a MIAA record for most hits in a game (24 against Lincoln).
Madison Boyd leads the way for the RiverHawks in batting average. The sophomore is hitting .407 (35-for-86) on the season with 21 RBI. Redshirt freshman
Paige Gann (.377, 29-77) leads the team in home runs (7) and is second on the squad in RBI (22). Senior
Alli Eales is batting .380 (30-for-79) and leads the RiverHawks in RBI (23) and is second on the team in home runs (6). Junior
Kayce Wooldridge (6-5) has a 4.06 ERA in the circle this year with seven complete games. She has recorded 52 strikeouts in 72.1 innings pitched.
SCOUTING THE ICHABODS Washburn University is located in Topeka, Kansas, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Ichabods, picked 10th in the MIAA Preseason Poll, are 11-8 in 2015 and have put up a 3-3 record in conference play. Washburn most recently lost four games to Emporia State. WU began the MIAA schedule with a sweep over Lincoln and a split with Lindenwood. Kristen Bell leads the team with a .433 batting average (26-for-60). Lauren Thimmesch is 8-1 in the circle for Washburn, throwing six complete game with a 1.65 ERA. She has recorded 36 strikeouts in 55.1 innings pitched.
