NSU set to play Arkansas Tech, Southeastern Oklahoma State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State softball team is set to play a pair of nonconference doubleheaders against Arkansas Tech University and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The RiverHawks (17-25) will first host Arkansas Tech (32-12) April 14. NSU will then welcome Southeastern Oklahoma State (23-18) in a doubleheader April 15. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. on both days at RiverHawks Park.

Northeastern State is coming off a weekend where it split with Central Missouri and lost two games to Southwest Baptist. Madison Boyd leads the way for the RiverHawks in batting average. The sophomore is hitting .356 (52-for-146). Redshirt freshman Paige Gann (.308, 40-for-130) leads the team in home runs (11). Seniors Alli Eales (.353, 48-for-136) and Alyssa Aguilar (.294, 32-for-109) each have eight home runs and 30 RBI. Junior Kayce Wooldridge (9-10) has a 4.61 ERA this year with 11 complete games. She has recorded 69 strikeouts in 120.0 innings pitched. Senior Laura Fleck is 4-4 in the circle for the RiverHawks with a 4.42 ERA. She has struck out 49 in 71.1 innings with four complete games and one save.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN SUNS                           
Arkansas Tech University is located in Russellville, Arkansas, and the team competes in the Great American Conference. The Golden Suns are 32-12 in 2015 and have put up a 19-9 record in conference play. They are receiving votes in the most recent NFCA Division II Softball Poll and are fourth in the country in home runs per game (1.56). Arkansas Tech most recently swept a four-game series with Ouachita Baptist. Kambri Hill (.374, 43-for-115) and Ashley Savage (.328, 41-for-125) have both hit 10 home runs, while Whitney Robinson (.397, 58-for-146) and Shanna Davidson (.365, 38-for-104) each have nine home runs. Morgan Vaughan is 8-3 in the circle for Arkansas Tech with a 2.66 ERA. She has recorded 50 strikeouts in 79.0 IP with four complete games. Victoria Huie has an 11-4 record and has thrown seven complete games with a 2.91 ERA. She has recorded 40 strikeouts in 89.0 innings pitched.
 
SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma State University is located in Durant, Oklahoma, and the team competes in the Great American Conference. The Savage Storm are 23-18 in 2015 and have put up a 19-7 record in conference play. They most recently went 3-1 against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Haley Strawn leads the team in batting average (.433, 55-for-127) and home runs (5). Sydney Kramer (.411, 46-for-112) also hits above .400, while Courtney Riddle (.388, 50-for-129) also has five home runs. Jessica Seay has put up an 11-6 record in the circle for the Savage Storm. She has a 4.18 ERA with 84 strikeouts and four complete games in 112.1 innings pitched. Jacee Bennett (11-9) has a 4.93 ERA with seven complete games. She has recorded 87 strikeouts in 115.0 IP.
