Softball set to host Central Missouri, Southwest Baptist

NSU set to play Jennies and Bearcats April 10-11

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State softball team is set to play doubleheaders against the University of Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist. The RiverHawks (16-22, 6-10 MIAA) will first host UCM (28-10, 10-2 MIAA) in an MIAA twinbill beginning at 1 p.m. April 10 at RiverHawks Park. NSU will then welcome Southwest Baptist (16-21, 6-12 MIAA) in a doubleheader beginning at noon April 11. The matchup against SBU will serve as Senior Day, with seniors Laura Fleck, Alli Eales, Alyssa Aguilar and Talia Lattimore being honored between the games.

Northeastern State is coming off a midweek nonconference sweep of Rogers State. The RiverHawks are currently in 10th place in the MIAA, while Central Missouri sits in second place and Southwest Baptist is in 11th place.

Alli Eales leads the way for the RiverHawks in batting average. The senior is hitting .369 (45-for-122) on the season and leads the team with 30 RBI. She is also second on the team with eight home runs. Redshirt freshman Paige Gann (.305, 36-for-118) leads the team in home runs (9). Junior Kayce Wooldridge (9-8) has a 4.51 ERA this year with 10 complete games. She has recorded 61 strikeouts in 107.0 innings pitched. Senior Laura Fleck is 3-3 in the circle for the RiverHawks with a 4.76 ERA. She has struck out 38 in 57.1 innings with two complete games and one save.

SCOUTING THE JENNIES                        
The University of Central Missouri is located in Warrensburg, Missouri, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Jennies, currently in second place in the MIAA standings, are 28-10 in 2015 and 10-2 in MIAA play. UCM is currently on a five-game winning streak, most recently sweeping Missouri Western. The team is receiving votes in the most recent NFCA Division II Poll. Lauren Mabe leads the team with a .420 batting average (47-for-112) and four home runs. Jakki Prater (.321, 44-for-137) also has four home runs while leading the squad with 14 doubles and 32 RBI. Prater is also 11-4 in the circle for the Jennies, throwing seven complete games with a 2.51 ERA. She has recorded 76 strikeouts in 108.2 innings pitched. Katie Shockley (11-5) has a 2.54 ERA, striking out 75 in 96.1 IP with 13 complete games.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Southwest Baptist University is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. SBU sits in 11th place in the MIAA standings, just behind NSU. The Bearcats are 16-21 in 2015 and have put up a 6-12 record in conference play. After splitting with Emporia State, they most recently swept William Jewell in a nonconference doubleheader.  Rachel Ray leads the team in batting average (.325, 39-for-120). Brittanie Halquist (.316, 36-for-114) leads the team with five home runs and 26 RBI. Kacey Ayers has put up an 8-10 record in the circle for the Bearcats. She has a 2.71 ERA with 98 strikeouts in 118.2 innings pitched. Ayers has thrown 13 complete games. Kyra Parker (8-8) has a 3.20 ERA with 12 complete games. She has recorded 48 strikeouts in 105.0 IP.
