One last time...
The upcoming fifth meeting between the RiverHawks and Lions will be last as MIAA member schools. Lindenwood will be departing the for the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) officially on July, 1, 2019. The trip for Northeastern State is the furthest east in conference play at 400 miles.
Pink Out
This Saturday's contest is Northeastern State's Breast Cancer Awareness game. The RiverHawks will have the addition of Pink on their athletics gear as part of its yearly awareness campaign. Northeastern State won 32-29 in double overtime against Missouri Southern in last season's Pink Out game.
On this date
Northeastern State has played on Oct. 13th ten times with its last contest on this date coming in 2007 at Texas A&M-Commerce. Of those ten contests, NSU has hosted a team on this date four times with its last being a 21-19 win against East Central in 1973.
Against Ranked Teams
Northeastern State opened the season with three straight contests with teams featured on the AFCA National Poll. On MasseyRatings.com, the RiverHawks have played the fourth toughest schedule in the nation.
Quarterback Notebook
- NSU junior quarterback Jake Pruitt has played in five contests this season and has started the last two games.
- Pruitt does own a statistical anomaly and leads the MIAA in punting average thanks to pooch punt for 56-yards vs. UNK.
- Cade Yeager threw his 20th career touchdown pass for the RiverHawks in week-three. The sophomore is tied for fifth in NSU's NCAA Division II record book.
- Jay Baker was perfect in four pass attempts for 36 yards in the fourth quarter at Washburn.
Receiver Notebook
- Isaiah Upshaw had a career high 104 receiving yards at Missouri Western on four catches. The NSU sophomore had a team game high 52-yard catch in the third quarter.
- Ryheem Brummitt leads NSU with 23 receptions and has 361 yards this season. Against Washburn, he caught season high 73 yard reception for a touchdown.
- Callen Houston caught a season high seven passes and had 44 receiving yards at Washburn.
Running Back Notebook
- Boo McKnight had his first start as the leading back for the RiverHawks in week-four. The NSU junior had nine carries and his first touchdown of the season in the third quarter.
- Craig Davis scored his second touchdown of the season at Missouri Western.
- Northeastern State has ran the ball more than passed for six consecutive games.
Offensive Line Notebook
- Junior Jason Staggs has started in 22 games and has played ten straight, he returned to center at Washburn.
- Freshman Jason Bell started has the last four games.
- Damarii Tryon returned to the field at Washburn after missing two games.
- Isaac Barham has started in the last three games and have started in five contests during the 2018 season.
Special Teams Notebook
- Freshman Brady Ellsworth has eight punts that have landed inside of the 20-yard line, which is tied for eighth in the MIAA. In 51 punts this season, he is averaging 35.9 yards per kick.
- Craig Davis is fifth in the MIAA in All-Purpose yards with 110.8 and leads the conference in kick return yards with 522.
- Davis' 94-yard run back for a touchdown on a kickoff against Nebraska-Kearney was NSU's first since Sept. 24, 2011 where Joel Rockmore scored from 92-yards out against Panhandle State.
- Davis currently owns the longest run back for a touchdown in the MIAA this season and it is the second touchdown on a kickoff this season.
- The RiverHawks have blocked three extra-points this season and had two last week at Missouri Western. Ja'len Evans ran back a PAT for a safety in the second quarter at Missouri Western.
- Upshaw's 34-yard punt return in the third quarter at Missouri Western was the longest since the 2016 season.
Defensive Back Notebook
- Courtland Clark had ten tackles for the RiverHawks in week-six. Clark leads NSU with 47 tackles which is 10th best in the MIAA.
- Jean Bazile paced the RiverHawks with 13 tackles at Washburn. The NSU junior is third on the defense with 37 total tackles.
- Vonte' White made his first start of the year and was second in tackles with 11 against Nebraska-Kearney. He also had a big tackle for no-gain on a Loper punt return.
Linebacker Notebook
- Lane Yoder picked-off a pass and had six tackles for the RiverHawks in week-three vs. Pitt State; he is sixth on the defensive side with 22 tackles.
- J'Quille Washington is second on the NSU defense with 41 tackles in six games played. Washington has six and a half tackles for loss this season which is 11th in the MIAA.
- Tyrel Bell had nine tackles in his first career defensive start against UNK in week-five. He would also record his first career sack against the Lopers.
