TAHLEQUAH – In the midst of a five game winning streak, Northeastern State head coach Mark Downey has been named HoopDirt.com's Division II Coach of the Week, presented by Just Play Solutions on Monday. 

Downey and the RiverHawks defeated Lincoln 80-72 on Thursday and Lindenwood 76-71 on Saturday to push their road-winning streak to three, their longest since the 2009-10 season.

After being picked last in the preseason conference media poll and dropping their first five conference games, Northeastern State has picked up five straight conference wins, improving to 11-8 on the season (5-5 MIAA).

For being selected, Downey will be eligible to receive the  HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions, which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2018-19 college basketball season.

Northeastern State returns to action on Thursday where they will host Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m.
