KANSAS CITY -- The MIAA announced on Wednesday that RiverHawks sophomore
Aitana Hernandez has been named the MIAA Athlete of the Week in Women's Golf.
Hernandez won the 21st Annual NSU Classic on Tuesday on the first tiebreaker hole over Marybeth Bellnap of Rogers State. She became the first NSU athlete to win the tournament since Bailey Price in 2016. The RiverHawks finished the tournament tied for fourth with Harding University.
This is the first time in her career that Hernandez has won this honor. Last season she WGCA All-Region and All-MIAA honors.
Hernandez and the rest of the RiverHawks will be back in action on Sept. 23-24 at the MIAA Preview, held at Awarii Dunes Golf Course in Axtell, Neb.
