Opening Tip 
  • With five games remaining in the regular season, NSU surpassed its win total from last year, and secured its first winning campaign since 2014.
  • The RiverHawks have 29 wins in the last two seasons, the four years prior, they had 28. 
  • In Oklahoma this season NSU is 12-3.
  • Including his sophomore season at Ranger JC, Caleb Smith has started in 82 straight games.  Heading into this week's games, the senior needs 134 points to reach 1,000 at Northeastern State.
  • Josh Ihek is second in the MIAA and 35th nationally with 37 blocks.  The senior has had a block in 11 consecutive games and leads the MIAA in conference action with 2.2 knockdowns a game.
  • Kendrick Thompson is fifth in the MIAA in scoring with 17.9 points a game.  Last Saturday, the senior cracked through the 1,000 point marker and now has 1,008.
  • NSU's starting lineup has only changed two times this season, with three players starting in all games. 
  • The RiverHawks are 22nd nationally and second in the MIAA with just 11.3 turnovers a game.
  • Northeastern State leads the MIAA and is third nationally in field-goal percentage defense (39.0).
  • On the offensive glass, NSU is tied for third in conference play with 10.1 boards a game. 
The Series with Washburn
  • After winning seven of the first nine games in the series, Washburn has won the last five. 
  • The RiverHawks are 3-2 against Washburn at home.
  • The Ichabods handed NSU a 27-point loss in the last meeting in Topeka; it was the third-largest margin of victory against at Downey lead team at NSU.  It would be the largest if Northwest Missouri didn't play basketball.
  • Head Coach Mark Downey is winless in three meetings with WU.
About the Ichabods
  • The Ichabods are one victory from becoming the tenth team in NCAA Division II history to reach 1,600 wins.
  • Washburn is 4-3 on the road this season. 
  • Tyler Geiman leads the Ichabods with 15.1 points a game and is one of three players to start in every game this season.
  • Geiman has hit double-digit scoring in all but one game this season for Washburn. 
  • Geiman's 364 career assists at Washburn and is second all-time on the Ichabod chart.
  • Jonny Clausing paces the MIAA with 2.73 offensive rebounds per game and blocks with 40.
  • At the free-throw line, Washburn is second to last the MIAA and in the bottom 30 nationally with a 66.1-percentage. 
The Series with Emporia State
  • The Hornets won the last two games of the series.  Both of which were the final two games of NSU season one year ago.
  • Overcame a 13-point defect at the MIAA Tournament last season to end NSU's season.
  • NSU is 5-4 when facing Emporia State at home. 
  • The last time ESU won three in a row against the RiverHawks was between 2005-07 as non-conference foes.
  • Head Coach Mark Downey is 2-3 all-time against the Hornets.
About the Hornets
  • The Hornets will be playing Rogers State prior to facing NSU on Saturday. 
  • Emporia State has not won on the road this season in six contests and is 1-7 away from White Auditorium.
  • They hold two wins in the last 11 contests and have lost seven of their last eight after losing leading rebounder Brenden Van Dyke 
  • Through last week's game, the Hornets have had six players miss a combined 60 contests with four starters missing time this season.
  • Led in scoring by Jumah'Ri Turner who averages 14.5 points per game.  He holds the MIAA-best free-throw percentage at 94.2.
  • Second behind NSU in the MIAA's best field-goal percentage defense. 
Looking Back
  • Kendrick Thompson had a career-high 31-points and was one short of the NSU program record with nine three-pointers made. 
  • Despite not getting much league recognition for his efforts, Thompson is averaging 20.4 points in the last five games.
  • NSU never trailed and snapped a seven-game winning streak for RSU and ended their run of seven straight wins over the RiverHawks.
  • In the last seven games, NSU has led by an average of 31 minutes.
