Box Score DURANT – Northeastern State scored a pair of runs in the first three innings and bested Southeastern 10-6 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Blake Freeman gave NSU early runs with a single to left to plate a pair of runs in the first. The RiverHawks poured in two more an inning later with Nic Swanson hitting a tripple to center for an RBI, and Reid Fehr brought him home with a sac bunt to up them four on the Savage Storm. Chaz Orr hit his first homer of the season to send NSU up 6-0 on the Southeastern in the sixth. In the bottom half of the frame, Southeastern got a pair of runs back on a one-out homer to left.
Collin Klingensmith extended the NSU lead to seven with a solo homer in the fourth. He added two more in the sixth on a single to center to give them a 9-2 lead on the Southeastern.
The Savage Storm scratched a run back in the seventh scoring on single to left-center. In the next frame, Freeman scored the RiverHawks' tenth run on a two-out error.
Southeastern picked up a run in the eighth on a two-out infield single and added two more in the ninth after loading the bases.
