TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State makes their ninth consecutive trip to the MIAA Tournament Sunday as the number-7 seed where they will face number-2 seeded Emporia State in the quarterfinal. 

The pair have met in the previous two MIAA tournaments and in the 2013 postseason.  

Northeastern State finished the MIAA regular season 8-7-3 and held onto a 5-5-1 association mark.  In the postseason awards, the team earned a trio of Third Team honors with Kamari Jefferson (Def.), Livy Wagner (MF), and Callie Rucker (F) being recognized.  

Rucker leads the RiverHawks with six goals and six assists.  

History with the Hornets (15-2-1,  9-2-0 MIAA)
Northeastern State holds a 7-5-1 overall record against the Hornets and is 3-3 on their home pitch.  In the first meeting, this season the RiverHawks took a 3-1 lead into the half but fell 5-3.  Emporia State is 2-1 against Northeastern State in the MIAA Tournament. 

Scouting the Hornets
- Emporia State finished the regular season winning all seven of their home contests and haven't suffered a loss at home since 2017.
- Mackenzie Dimarco is second in the nation in goals with 18 and fifth overall with 37 points. 
- The Hornets are tenth nationally with 51 team goals and third with 10.8 shots-on-goal per game. 

Coming Up
Should the RiverHawks advance, they will face either Northwest Missouri or Washburn on Nov. 12 at the highest remaining seed in the overall tournament.
