TAHLEQUAH -- The RiverHawks will host the NSU/Cherokee Nation Festival this weekend, with games being played at RiverHawks Park and Tahlequah High School. NSU will play four games, opening against Midland and Missouri Valley on Friday before closing the weekend against Doane and Tabor on Saturday. All of NSU's contests will be played at RiverHawks Park.

Friday Feb 26, Missouri Valley at 3 p.m.

Opening Pitches
1. NSU went 1-2 at the Edmond Regional Festival last weekend falling to Oklahoma Baptist and Colorado Christian before getting fourteen hits in route to an 8-2 victory over East Central. It is now 3-3 on the season.
2. Freshman designated player Chloe Bohuslavicky was named MIAA Softball Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after hitting two home runs and slugging 1.200. She went 5-10 at the dish, had a double and racked up five RBI over the weekend. She is the first NSU freshman to earn the weekly honor since 2014.
3. In addition to Bohuslavicky, transfer Rhomie Bradshaw went 4-11 at the plate as the leadoff batter. She is hitting .381 to start the season. Carly Kelley, Jaeden Rosenquist and Cameron Conrad also sport batting averages over .300 while Conrad has a .500 on-base percentage and is slugging .625.
4. On the mound Gail Young started in two games and struck out nine. She threw her third complete game of the season versus East Central to close the weekend. Jenna Chassie started versus Colorado Christian and allowed three runs in 4.0 innings of work.
5. Midland University had its first weekend of the season canceled due to winter weather. It went 5-4 a season ago and did not play a home contest. The Warriors are led by fifth-year head coach Mike Heard.
6. Northeastern State and Missouri Valley have never met. The Vikings had their first weekend canceled due to weather. They went 9-5 last season and Jason Marcum who is in his second season.
7. The Doane Tigers have participated in the previous two NSU home tournaments. The RiverHawks hold a 2-1 series lead. The Tigers are 4-2 this season and are 2-2 versus teams who are receiving votes in the NAIA poll. Kayla Miller is batting .500 on the season and Josie Schnakenberg has a 2.21 ERA in her 19.0 innings.
8. The RiverHawks and Bluejays have never met on the softball diamond. Tabor is 1-4 early on this season. It did, however, beat No. 6 Columbia College last weekend. Fifth-year Hannah Jones is the ace of the staff and pitched them to their lone win. Head coach Jeff Brewer is in his second season at the helm.
9. With COVID-19 in mind, all fans will enter/exit through the east gate adjacent to the softball/soccer complex. Fans will be encouraged to maintain physical distancing at all times and use face coverings/masks.

Up next: The RiverHawks will remain at home next weekend hosting Drury for a Saturday doubleheader and Missouri S&T for two on Sunday.
