Softball heads to Warrensburg for four games

TAHLEQUAH – After a 2-2 week to open conference play Northeastern State softball heads to Warrensburg, Mo., for four games with two different programs from Minnesota.

THE LEAD OFF
  • The RiverHawks are 12-6 on the season and 10-4 in nonconference play.
  • Rhomie Bradshaw is seventh nationally and second in the MIAA with 28 hits. The first baseman/left fielder is tied for the MIAA lead with eight stolen bases.
  • Gail Young (8-3) is third nationally with eight complete games in 10 starts. The senior has thrown 15.2 more innings than any other MIAA pitcher. She has 53 wins in her career, nine off of Kayce Wooldridge (2013-16), who holds NSU's NCAA era mark for wins by a starting pitcher. 
  • NSU has the third-most doubles and fourth-most home runs nationally. It leads the conference in both with a .560 slugging percentage.
  • Five RiverHawks are hitting better than .340, four of which have four or more home runs.
  • Fans will be allowed and are asked to socially distance the best they can.
ABOUT THE FOES

#RV St.Cloud State - Saturday 12 p.m. / Sunday 12 p.m.
  • The programs have met just once with NSU winning 9-0 at the 2017 Apple Market Classic in St. Joseph, Mo.
  • The Huskies are 10-0 to start the season and this weekend will be the first time they have played away from home.
  • There are five players batting over .480 and the pitching staff boasts a 1.18 ERA.
  • It's .441 average as a team is fifth nationally and Jasmin Estrada's .600 mark at the plate is 17th nationally.
Concordia St. Paul – Saturday 4 p.m. / Sunday 4 p.m.
  • The teams have met once with NSU winning 12-2 in 2017 at the 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark.
  • The Golden Bears are 4-5 this season and are yet to play at home. They are coming off a 3-2 ESU Classic in which they beat Missouri Southern.
  • Clara Heislen is hitting .448 and has four home runs. In the circle, CSP has a 4.05 ERA. 
Up Next: The RiverHawks will return home to host Northwest Missouri (March 27) and Missouri Western (March 28) for doubleheaders beginning at 12 p.m.
