BARTLESVILLE – Aitana Hernandez and Yasmin Hang shot their lowest scores of the MIAA Championship in the final round Friday afternoon but Northeastern State Women's Golf could not improve on the team leaderboard from the first day and finished fourth.
 
NSU had two of their bags in the top-10 individually as the team shot a 947 (319-310-318). The RiverHawks' streak of four-straight MIAA Championship wins came to an end at Hillcrest Country Club.
 
Northeastern State was led by Hernandez with a 231 (77-78-76) score. The sophomore tied for fourth place.
 
Kaylee Petersen and Nina Lee also carded total scores in the 230s. Petersen finished tied for 10th with a 238 while Lee was one stroke behind to tie for 13th place.
 
Kelly Swanson turned in her lowest average stroke score of the season though it was the first three-round tournament. She averaged 80.33 strokes in the tournament for a 241 score.
 
Hang, the lone freshman, rounded the NSU lineup tying for 31st with a 250 (86-84-80).
 
Northeastern State was second with 143 pars of 12 team field. Hernandez carded 32 pars and tied with Lee with four birdies apiece.
 
Central Oklahoma won the tournament by one stroke with a 933 (302-310-321) score to edge out Central Missouri. UCO's top bag Susana Olivares claimed medalist honors.
 
GolfStat #28 Northeastern State is ranked as the second-best team in the central region. The RiverHawks will head to the NCAA Central Regional on May 3-5 at St. Joseph Country Club in Missouri.
