TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State Women's Basketball head coach Fala Suiaunoa announced her second freshman forward signing for the 2021-22 season in Courtney Lee on Monday.
 
The 5-11 Lee, a native of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, comes to Tahlequah as the valedictorian and reigning Big 8 Conference Player of the Year. She also surpassed 1,000 points in her career.
 
"Courtney is a diamond in the rough for us as she didn't play summer ball this past year and was truly under the radar, but we are very excited to have her and the Lee family join the RiverHawks," Suiaunoa said. "Courtney has a phenomenal build and strength and with her athleticism our forward position has definitely gotten stronger."
 
Lee earned VYPE Magazine Top 100, OGBCA Academic All-State, Oklahoma Native Association All-State, Oklahoma Coaches Association All-Star recognition following her senior campaign. She averaged 18.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 2.5 steals and 2.7 assists per game this season. She scored 39 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in a win over rival, and nearby, Keys High School.
 
The forward plans to major in physical therapy. Courtney is the daughter of Shannon and Jarrod Lee and has two brothers and one sister.
