Men's Soccer announces fall schedule

TAHLEQUAH -- Coming off a 2020 season played this spring, a 20 match schedule is on tap, with NSU men's soccer releasing its 2021 fall schedule Wednesday.

The short turnaround starts with a Friendly at Oral Roberts on Aug. 21; the two teams faced off in January with the Division I Golden Eagles edging NSU 2-1.

Three days following NSU's trip to Tulsa, the RiverHawks open a three-match homestand with their final preseason tuneup hosting Murray State College on Aug. 24.  NSU then hosts Drury in the official season opener on Sept. 2 and then Missouri S&T on Sept. 4.

Northeastern State will be south of the Red River for their next four matches and will see old Lone Star Conference rivals MSU Texas on Sept. 9 in Wichita Falls, and then they head to Canyon for the first time since 2011 to meet West Texas A&M on Sept. 11.

The Texas swing through heads to Lubbock with NSU facing St. Martin's (Washington) on Sept. 16 and two days later will face UC-Colorado Springs in the first meeting with them since 2010.   Both matches are neutral-site contests hosted by Lubbock Christian.

Northeastern State opens its GAC/MIAA 12 match schedule on Sept 23 with Harding and Ouachita Baptist on Sept. 25.  Intrastate rivals are featured on the following week, with NSU heading the Claremore on Sept. 30 to face Rogers State and then the RiverHawks host Southern Nazarene in the 51st meeting of the programs on Oct. 2.

NSU remains at home hosting Fort Hays State on Oct. 7 and then Newman on Oct. 9 before making return trips to Southern Nazarene on Oct. 16, Harding on Oct. 21, and then Ouachita Baptist on Oct. 23.

The RiverHawks final regular-season home contest will come on Oct. 30, with Rogers State making the short trek down to Tahlequah.

The GAC/MIAA Regular season closes out on Nov. 4 at Fort Hays State and Nov. 6 at Newman.
