2/25/2022 10:50:00 AM

TAHLEQUAH – MIAA play opens this weekend for the Northeastern State baseball program, where they will travel to Emporia State for a three-game series starting on Saturday.

The RiverHawks come into the series with a 9-3 mark, receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II poll, and the most recent National Player of the Week in Brock Reller

In five games played last week, Reller had 13 RBI, three homers, five triples, and 12 runs scored.  Reller cleared the bases on Feb. 19 for a double in his final at-bat for the cycle and had seven RBI in the game, the most since 2015 for an NSU batter.

Northeastern State swept last season's meeting in Tahlequah against the Hornets, who are 5-6 overall heading into the series.   Since 2003, Emporia State has led the overall series 8-17 and is 6-2 in Emporia.  The RiverHawks have yet to win a series on ESU's field.

NSU's starting shortstop Kademon Graff is a transfer from Emporia State, starting in 15 games during the 2021 season.

All three games will have audio broadcasts on GoRiverHawksGo.com and Lakes Country locally in Tahlequah with Blake Turner on the call.
