TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State softball returns to RiverHawks Park to open a ten-game homestand Friday, seeking to finish the month strong and ride some momentum into the season's final month.
The RiverHawks enter the weekend on a six-game skid and holds a 12-15 record. Despite this, NSU has been limited to just a pair of home games, with four of their last six being against teams ranked inside the top-10 in the nation.
Northeastern State vs. Missouri Southern | March 25 at 2 p.m. (DH)
Missouri Southern visits NSU on Friday for a doubleheader and holds a 15-12 record. They have been the opposite of the RiverHawks this year, where NSU hasn't been home much; the Lions will be playing just their second true road game. Away from Joplin, the Lions are 6-9 and have lost four of their last five games. The last time these two schools met resulted in a 3-3 tie in Joplin, the first draw for the NSU softball program.
Northeastern State vs. Pittsburg State | March 26 at 1 p.m. (DH)
Pittsburg State follows on Saturday, holding a 21-8 overall record, and have yet to play an actual road game this season. The Gorillas visit Rogers State on Friday before facing NSU. Since 1995, Pitt State has held a 31-26 series lead over Northeastern State. The RiverHawks are 5-1 as MIAA members when hosting the Gorillas who will make their first trip to Tahlequah since 2018.
Northeastern State vs. Southern Nazarene | March 29 at 2 p.m. (DH)
Southern Nazarene closes the homestand on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader, and it will be the first time the Crimson Storm has visited NSU since 1996. The two met earlier in the season in Bethany, with SNU claiming a 9-6 win over the RiverHawks.
