RiverHawks host Missouri Western for weekend series

3/31/2022 1:15:00 PM

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State continues its homestand with Missouri Western looking to return to its early-season form for a Friday through Sunday MIAA series.

NSU (18-12, 8-9 MIAA)  has had one of the top offenses in the nation, but batted .169 in the previous four games with just four extra-base hits, winning one in that span.  That lone victory came hard-fought in 15 innings and went down as one longest this season in NCAA Division II baseball.

Missouri Western comes to Tahlequah with a 5-21 overall record and is 3-14 in the MIAA this season.  The Griffons are batting .245 as a team while its pitching staff has allowed 7.64 runs per game.  The series is the bookend of a seven-game road trip where they visited Washburn and then played a midweek contest at Central Missouri.

Northeastern State is 6-17 all-time against Missouri Western, with the Griffons winning the first 13 meetings.

All three series games will have audio broadcasts on GoRiverHawksGo.com and Lakes Country locally in Tahlequah, with Blake Turner on the call.
