INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Northeastern State shot the second-lowest score in the afternoon round of the MIAA Championship and is tied for fourth place, shooting a 598 (305-298).
The RiverHawks are tied with Central Missouri and are one stroke back of Central Oklahoma.
Projected weather Wednesday shifted the tournament to a two-day event, with the RiverHawks' 305 in their opening round putting them in sixth place. A two-under 70 score from
Brayden Strickland spurred a two-spot jump for NSU, where their highest score on the WinterStone Golf Course was a 75.
Strickland is in contention for medalist, tied for fourth with three others, shooting a 145, two back of the lead.
In just his second tournament,
Christian Yanovitch hovered in the top-ten throughout the day and is tied for 11th, shooting a 148 (73-75).
Gabe Replogle is 17th with a 151 (77-74), and
Carlos Gomez was tied for 25th, shooting a 154 (80-74).
Brett Wilcoxen was tied for 34th overall on a 156 (81-75) score.
The RiverHawks shot the third most birdies with 27, with Strickland landing one of the tournament's four eagles.
Rogers State will take a nine-stroke lead into the clubhouse after shooting a 580.
Northeastern State will be paired with Central Missouri and Missouri Western in the tournament's final round, which starts Tuesday at 10 a.m.
