Martinez Lifts NSU to Victory over OBU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Northeastern State put together a strong day on both ends of the pitch in a 3-0 victory over Ouachita Baptist Saturday afternoon. The RiverHawks netted three second-half goals alongside a strong defensive effort in the shutout win.

From the start, NSU was the aggressor, logging seven shots before OBU could muster a try. The RiverHawks found their first goal in the 60th minute off the foot of Martin Martinez. The sophomore was able to strike again off an assist from Davi Dornelles just over two minutes later in the 62nd minute. The score gave NSU a multi-goal advantage, and the brace marked Martinez's first of the season and the second of his career.

Luis Felipe Karam gave the RiverHawks one more goal to finish out the night in the 89th minute, assisted by Marc Ackerman

On the evening, NSU took 24 shots, while holding the Tigers to only two attempts across the match. Martinez and Felipie Karam each had three shots on-goal to combine for six of the team's eight on-target attempts.

The RiverHawks moved to 5-3-3 (3-2-1 GAC/MIAA) with their fourth shutout victory of the campaign, while the Tigers fell to 0-10-3 (0-5-2 GAC/MIAA) with the defeat.
