NSU Takes Down No. 21 RSU in Claremore

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Nicolas Falcao's first collegiate goal guided Northeastern State to a 1-0 victory Thursday night over No. 21 Rogers State at Soldier Field.

Scoring opportunities were hard to come by for NSU in the first half, as they could only muster two attempts against the RSU defense. The Hillcats logged three shots on-goal across their four tries in the opening period, but goalkeeper Ian Milla got in front of all of them to keep it a scoreless match 45 minutes in.

Coming out of the break, the RiverHawks were aggressive on the offensive end, taking three shots against the RSU defense in the first nine minutes of the closing period. Falcao converted on NSU's third of the half, connecting on a header in the 54th minute to make it a 1-0 advantage. The freshman was assisted by Elijah Porter on the score.

While the Hillcats shot eight times in the second half and kept the RiverHawks from recording an attempt after the Falcao goal, they were held scoreless across the full time to give NSU their fifth shutout win of the 2023 season.

Milla finished the night with six saves, playing a leading role in keeping the GAC/MIAA's highest-scoring offense off the board in the victory.

Northeastern State returns to DeLoache Field on Saturday, Oct. 21 to take on No. 17 Southern Nazarene at 1 p.m. in continued GAC/MIAA action.
