CLAREMORE – Northeastern State scored 11 unanswered points to start Wednesday's contest at Rogers State but it would be a quiet offensive evening for the RiverHawks who dropped a 58-44 result to the Hillcats. The RiverHawks had a season-low 25.9 percent (15-58) night from the field and missed all 11 attempts at the arc.
Tor'e Alford was the lone NSU player in double-figures with 11 but was held scoreless for the final 15 minutes of the contest.
Halie Jones battled foul trouble early and was limited to nine points.
Courtney Lee led the team with eight rebounds but was held scoreless from the field.
The RiverHawks (4-5, 1-3 MIAA) remained within one possession of the Hillcats out of the third quarter but they would go scoreless for over seven minutes. Rogers State scored nine unanswered during that time and NSU's offense could never recover shooting 3-for-17 in the final stanza.
Rogers State (5-5, 1-4 MIAA) ended a two-game skid to the RiverHawks on their home court and moved the overall series even to 7-7. The Hillcats shot 43.4 percent (23-52) with Alayzha Knapp having a game-high 12 points off the bench.
Northeastern State will return to action on Tuesday for their final game before the holiday break to see Washburn at 2 p.m.
