Lee in second place at Virginia Laas Invite

JOPLIN, MISSOURI – Northeastern State women's golf team is competing in Virginia Laas Invitational against sixteen other schools. After day one they placed themselves toward the top of the leaderboard sitting in fourth place overall. The RiverHawks carded a 644 (319-325) and are 11 strokes ahead of Oklahoma Baptist University. 

Nina Lee competed hard today and is helping the RiverHawks keep their placement and is sitting in second place only four strokes behind first place. She carded a 149 (73-66) and had five birdies, the third most in the invitational, and shot 22 pars. 

Kelly Swanson is in a four-way tie for 21st place after shooting a 162 (81-81). Yasmin Hang is five strokes behind Swanson placing her in an eight-way tie for 41st place shooting a 167 (83-84). Sam Maceli followed close behind with a 168 (82-86) in a three-way tie for 49th place. Hanna Lignell had the lowest score for Northeastern placing herself in a six-way tie for 52nd after carding a 169 (85-84). The RiverHawks had 13 birdies and shot a total of 88 pars.

Henderson State had a remarkable day carding a 607 (305-302), placing them in first 10 strokes ahead of Central Missouri. Jinna Boonbumroongsuk of Henderson State also had a great first day carding a 145 (72-73) putting herself in first place.

The RiverHawks will return to the course Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for their final round
