Softball splits with No. 4 Bronchos

TAHLEQUAH – Chloe Bohuslavicky hit a go-ahead homer, and Madison Heinle spun a three-hitter as the RiverHawks rallied for a doubleheader split with No. 4 ranked Central Oklahoma Friday.  The Bronchos took game one 9-0 in five innings, with the RiverHawks downing Central 3-1 in the nightcap.

After two scoreless innings in the opener, Central Oklahoma plated four runs in the third and hit back-to-back homers during the fourth to score five more runs on the RiverHawks.  Northeastern State had two batters reach with Delaney Mills being the lone hit.

In the nightcap, the Bronchos scored the first run of the game in the fourth on a single before Bohuslavicky bashed her 15th homer of the season in the bottom half of the inning to give the RiverHawks 2-1 lead. 

Raegan Edwards extended the lead by a run in the fifth with on an infield single; a throwing error allowed Mills to score on the play. 

The RiverHawks had seven batters collect a hit as they handed UCO (31-6, 13-3 MIAA) its second road loss of the season. 

Heinle allowed one extra-base hit, retired ten consecutive batters to close the game, and moved to 9-6 in the circle. 

Northeastern State moves to 23-18 (5-11 MIAA) and remains home to host Newman for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.
