ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western held the RiverHawks scoreless until the eighth and beat Northeastern State, 4-2, to prevent a sweep Sunday afternoon.
The Griffons (7-24, 4-16 MIAA) plated two on a single up the middle in the first and hit a pair of ground ball RBI outs in the third and fifth innings.
Northeastern State left eight runners on base, with
Isaiah Keller hitting a sac fly to break the scoreless game.
Coby Tweten followed up with a double for his fifth RBI of the series.
Brayden Rodden and Tweten had two hits as the RiverHawks 14-17 (8-12 MIAA) fell to overall.
CJ Briley (2-1) went five innings in his first MIAA start, and
Javier Sanchez and
Cole White threw scoreless frames out of the NSU pen.
Northeastern State returns to action Tuesday evening to face Oklahoma Baptist on the road.
